TIPS

Activities

NIGHTLIFE

Barra de Tijuca has fastly become one of the most popular places to go out  at night in Rio de Janeiro. There are many open bars along the street, Avenida Olegário Maciel, where people sit and enjoy a “chopp”  ( beer) while watching the soccer or some other sporting event live. Literally hundredes of people will be found here on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. There are also great restuarants around this region ( check out the information detailed in “Restraurants”).  If you still want to party on until the wee hours, visit the nightclubs on Avenida Armando Lombardi. “NUT” is one of the most well known in this group.

Where To Surf

Praia do Pepe is a 15 minute walk from the UNIMED disembarkation point. There are a lot of surfers who live on the islands and you will see them commuting by boat then walking the 15 minutes to Praia do Pepe or anywhere along the 22 km stretch of beach that spans between Quebra Mar and Recreio.

Praia do Pepe is where the WSL Billabong Pro is run and there are strong waves here more apt for fast surfing.  If you walk 500 metres down the beach from Pepe
